EDF announce energy price rise

The last of the big six energy firms has finally announced that it will be increasing gas and electricity prices by 4.5% and 15.4% respectively.

EDF has blamed the price rises on the wholesale energy prices that are also rising. Their customers will see standard annual dual fuel costs rise from £1,051 to £1,165 (average), where they by direct debit.

The move by EDF follows the other top five energy suppliers – Scottish Power, British Gas, Scottish and Southern, Npower and Eon who announced their price rises earlier on in the year.
