Go home to Gothic

With Halloween celebrations taking place this week across the UK, it is a fitting time to take a look at properties with a gothic twist.
This week we look at unusual properties with an atmospheric slant.  Not spooky, just a little bit kooky and with a certain gothic glamour that we’re sure you’ll find hard to resist.
The stunning Neo Gothic style Mews house priced at £210, 000 is situated in Sandgate, a much sought after coastal village. The property is part of a former school built Circa 1866 and now provides a quirky and beautiful property. The interior has a modern, light, contemporary feel which compliments the stunning Neo Gothic architecture with Gothic windows and vaulted ceilings.

This truly is one of the best examples of a Gothic Victorian building in and around Cheshire. Sir Winston Churchill once stood on the impressive staircase and gave a speech when the house was used as a hospital between the wars. This property oozes with history, style and elegance. Dating back to 1865 it  has been rescued and lovingly restored to its former glory by the current owners. They have managed to retain all of the properties stunning period features including marble fireplaces, intricate cornicing and of course the most impressive staircase. The property is available to rent for £6,500pcm.
This fine Grade II Listed Victorian home opposite Christchurch park offers elegantly proportioned and characterful accommodation arranged over three floors. Presenting red brick elevations including part crenulated Flemish gables under a peg tiled roof. The property was designed by Frederick Barnes (FRIBA), the land having been acquired by Charles Cowell from the Fonnereau Estate in 1868. The history of this well documented home includes original watercolour architect drawings held by the Suffolk Records Office. There have only been four owners of the property since first occupation in 1868. It is priced at £875,000.

Very Gothic. Must preserve the features as I always did in my designs, generally Grade 11 listings. An enjoyable and rewarding series of conversions preserving the visual environment rather than destroying it for the Developers Mammon — Profit. A number of good Church Structures have also managed to be preserved in this manner!!
