New custodial deposit scheme for landlords

April sees the launch of two additional deposit scheme options for landlords. This launch will allow landlords a choice of three schemes in total including two custodial schemes instead of just one as was previously the case.

Energy Efficiency Update

Changes implemented under the Energy Efficiency (England & Wales) Regulations 2015, mean that domestic landlords need to be prepared for the new Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES). These changes come into force on the 1st April 2016.

Buy to let homes face higher stamp duty

The chancellor has announced that people buying second homes will have to pay a higher rate of stamp duty. From April 2016 an extra 3% surcharge will be added to each stamp duty band.
