Office for National Statistics reveals 6.1% price rises

Inflation savingsHouse prices rose by 6.1% in the year to September 2015, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

According to the ONS house prices rose by 6.1% in the year to September 2015, around 6% less than the rise during the same period last year.

Commenting on the statistics, the chief economist at PwC, John Hawksworth, said “The ongoing rise in house prices reinforces our projections that, by 2025, only around a quarter of 20-39 year olds in England may be owner occupiers, compared to around three quarters of over-55 year olds,”

That said there are huge variations in average house prices across different regions. In North East England the average price sits at £158,000 whilst in the South East it is £359,000.
